We use coyote fur to trim the hood ruffs of some of our products, like our parkas and jackets. Why? Because we believe nothing protects the bare skin of the face against extreme wind and snow quite like it.
Plus, it’s part of our heritage, going back to the very beginning of our story: creating outerwear to protect against the Arctic’s harshest weather. For decades, fur trim has been integral to our Arctic jackets and parkas.
We know consumers want to learn more about the sustainability of fur and we want to help them make an informed choice by providing insight into the materials we use, why we use them, and how we source.
We never source from fur farms. We use wild coyote fur sourced from western North America.
We require our suppliers to confirm to us:
· They do not tolerate any willful mistreatment, neglect, or malicious harm of animals.
· They only supply Canada Goose with wild North American coyote fur and that they never use fur from fur farms.
· They only source from trappers who are regulated by state, provincial and federal standards.

We require our suppliers to confirm to us:
In 2022, we plan to introduce reclaimed fur into our supply chain, which includes beginning to manufacture parkas using reclaimed fur and ending the purchasing of new fur.
Customers will start to see jackets using reclaimed fur in store from fall 2022, or possibly earlier. You can read more about our plan – and our wider commitment to sustainability – on our Sustainably Sourced page.
WHAT IS RECLAIMED FUR?
Reclaimed fur is fur that already exists. In the North, people have been working with reclaimed fur for centuries – sustainability is a way of life there. This initiative draws inspiration from that resourcefulness.
HOW IS RECLAIMED FUR USED?
We plan to introduce reclaimed fur into our supply chain starting in 2022. Reclaimed fur has the same look and feel as new fur, providing the same functionality in extreme environments.
DOES CANADA GOOSE USE REAL ANIMAL FUR?
Yes, at Canada Goose we use real wild coyote fur in some of our jackets, such as our parkas and other cold-weather accessories.
WHY DOES CANADA GOOSE USE REAL FUR?

DOES CANADA GOOSE USE COYOTE FUR IN ITS JACKETS?
Yes, Canada Goose uses coyote fur for the fur trim for some parka and jacket hoods. At Canada Goose, we use wild coyote fur sourced in western Canada and the United States.
WHY DOES CANADA GOOSE USE COYOTE FUR?
For decades, we have used wild coyote fur in our parkas because of its functional performance and its sustainable material. Coyotes are native to Canada, and the United States, and are one of North America’s most prevalent predators. Trapping is used to manage abundant populations that are known to endanger pets and livestock. Real coyote fur doesn’t hold water and never freezes. We use it for the ruff around our hoods, which – thanks to the uneven hair length in the fur – disrupts the airflow, protecting exposed skin against wind.
WHERE DOES CANADA GOOSE COYOTE FUR COME FROM?
At Canada Goose, we only source fur from wild coyotes in Canada and the United States.
HOW DOES CANADA GOOSE WORK WITH COYOTE TRAPPERS?
At Canada Goose, we work with suppliers who source our fur. In turn, our suppliers buy the fur from trappers, who are regulated by state, provincial and federal standards.
Our suppliers confirm that:
HOW DOES CANADA GOOSE TREAT ANIMALS?
We do not condone any willful mistreatment, neglect, or acts that maliciously cause animals undue suffering. Our standards for the sourcing and use of fur, down and wool reflect our commitment that materials are sourced from animals which are not subject to willful mistreatment or undue harm.
